Jim Davis is a Leadership Coach and Retired Annuitant for CPS HR. He graduated with a coaching certificate from the Hudson Institute of Coaching in December 2022.
Jim retired in December 2021 from his prior role as Chief Deputy Director/Chief Operation Officer, a Governor appointee, of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Davis oversaw all operations comprising nearly 22,000 employees; a $15 billion budget; the massive Senate Bill (SB) 1 infrastructure program; major efficiency efforts; and leadership development.
A Professional Engineer (PE) and Caltrans veteran of 33 years, Jim possesses a passion for developing organizational leaders and expert problem-solvers. He has advanced and promoted internal leadership training and coaching programs and mentored and coached many current Caltrans leaders. His own professional development included exchanges with corporations such as Cisco, Disney and Intel and foreign delegations from Japan, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan.
