About

Today's Risk Professionals are expected to know and understand industry best practices and be committed to using them. There is no better way for risk managers to show their commitment than by proving that they have the knowledge, skills, and qualifications to back their experience.

The goal of the Risk Management Practitioner (RMP) Certificate Program is to create a series of training classes, designed to impart the knowledge of professional risk managers and ensure they can apply that knowledge within their agencies and in their profession.

This program was built by a broad coalition of industry leaders and subject matter experts to reflect practical application, filling a gap in the industry by providing learner-centered, interactive, and thought provoking training. Learning happens with a group of peers in which the facilitator draws out and expands upon the knowledge of the participants, making this program like no other risk management training.

Individuals with the RMP training certification have demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of:

The foundations of risk management
Overview of basic laws and principles
How to administer insurance and self-insurance programs
How to identify and evaluate your agency's particular loss exposures
Implementing sound loss control measures
Managing first-party property and third-party liability claims
The purpose, history and legal framework of Workers' Compensation
How to effectively administer standard workers' compensation and employer's liability policies
The relevant state and federal legal frameworks and the intersection between medical limitations and workplace disabilities

+ Who is the audience for the Risk Management Practitioner Program?

The program is specifically designed for Risk Management assistants, workers’ compensation specialists, human resource analysts/assistants and frontline supervisors who are responsible for, or have as an aspect of their job, the practical and cost effective management of risk for their organization.

+ How was the program created?

The program was created through a collaborative partnership with CJPIA, CSAC, and CPS HR Consulting Services to serve the needs of public sector risk management professionals. The curriculum was developed with the help of subject matter experts, practicing risk managers, and industry experts who combined industry knowledge and practical application to create an impactful training experience.

+ What is included in the Risk Management Practitioner Program?

There are five one-day classes included in the Risk Management Practitioner Program:

Property and Liability Claims, Safety and Loss Control

Disability Management and Early Return to Work
